Something new and exciting for the blog – quick tips!  These will be mostly picture free and not full recipes.  Just good/easy/fun ideas for random cooking things I like to do that don’t really need a full blog entry.

Quick Tip #1: Keep some apple crisp topping in the fridge for quick fall desserts

I started doing this last year.  Make a batch, or a half batch, of apple crisp oatmeal topping (Martha has a great classic recipe) and throw it in some tupperware in the fridge.

Whenever you want some apple crisp, use a small, oven-safe dish.  Take an apple and peel and chunk it up.  Toss it with a little sugar and flour and a dash of cinnamon and fill the oven-safe dish with the apple mixture.  Top with as much of the crumb topping as you can fit in the dish.  Bake it at 350F for about 30-40 minutes until it is hot and bubbling.  You can spice up the crisp by adding nutmeg, craisins, pears, orange or lemon zest, etc.  Once the topping is done, it probably takes about 5-10 minutes (plus cook time) to make an awesome homemade dessert!  Also, I may or may not occasionally just eat a little bit of the topping. Try it and enjoy!!
